Madain Saleh, previously called Al-Hijr or Hegra, is a fascinating archaeological wonder found in the north-western region of Saudi Arabia. 1. Al-Khuraybah temple and tombs

Al-Khuraybah is the largest temple in Madain Saleh, and it was once dedicated to the Nabatean god, Dushara. It is adjacent to the Al-Masaqif al-Sulymaniya tombs, where you can find the burial sites of wealthy and prominent Nabateans.

2. Al-Diwan

The Al-Diwan is one of the most impressive structures in Madain Saleh. It was built as a communal area for social gatherings, held in the evening, and consisted of a series of stepped platforms that lead to the top where an elevated platform for the brazier was located. The brazier was used to light the way for the events and activities hosted in the area. The steps on the platform are decorated with intricate carvings and inscriptions.

3. Lion Tomb

The Lion tomb is one of the most fascinating sites in Madain Saleh. It is a rock-cut tomb that is sculpted into the path of a mountain, which depicts two lions standing on their hind legs, welcoming visitors. It is believed that this tomb was dedicated to the Nabatean king, Al-Harith IV, who was notorious for lion hunting in the surrounding area.

4. The Al Farid temple

The Al Farid temple is Madain Saleh's most iconic landmark, and it is located on the edge of a valley.
